On Stage
Capital City Brass BandI believe that as a teacher and a musician, it is important to never stop learning. Every time I play my instrument, I am learning new ways to approach my craft and new ways in which to teach my students.
I am fortunate to play in an ensemble, the Capital City Brass Band, which allows me to play with incredible musicians and work under the tutelage of amazing conductors. The videos on the right are examples of our growth and experiences over the last five years in which I've played with the group. The top video is a great piece we performed commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the group. Below that is a collaboration we had with the Mid-Michigan Youth Symphony, a group comprised of high schoolers from across the mid-Michigan area. In this concert, we were able to coach high school brass players and play a combined piece with the ensemble. The next video is a compilation video of all of the groups who competed in the annual 2012 US Open Brass Band Championship in Chicago, IL. This year was our second experience at the event, and we were pleased to share the stage with a number of amazing bands from across the country. This final video was an incredible event in which we performed with bands from across the state. The Motor City Festival of Bands was held in 2010, and we were fortunate enough to play this combined piece under the baton of Maestro Leonard Slatkin, director of the Detroit Symphony. These experiences have kept my musicianship at an all time high and continue to challenge my learning. |
